Reiki is a way of working with loving energy to achieve peace and improvement by channeling healing vibrations through the hands. Similar to how a microwave uses radiation to heat things, Reiki practitioners distribute and manipulate existing energy through loving universal energy. This energy is accessed after receiving a special attunement from a Reiki Master, which opens the practitioner’s ability to channel healing for people, situations, and spiritual growth.
My journey with Reiki began after learning about Usui Mikao, a Japanese spiritual practitioner who founded this healing method in the early 20th century. While the stories of his mountain retreat and instantaneous healing are part of the beautiful Reiki deliveries, what resonated most with me was the core idea:
channeling loving energy to support healing.
I believe we’re all born with unique gifts to share with the world. My gifts include sensing emotions and energies through various intuitive channels, particularly touch. During casual massages, I could easily detect knots, tensions, and energetic blocks. My Reiki training revealed that my hands would naturally hover over areas of ailment without physical contact. Even now, when treating clients, I’ll sometimes feel an inexplicable urge to focus on a specific body part – and often, the recipient confirms they were mentally connecting with that same area.
What happens in a Reiki treatment? I or we (depending if in person or distance) create a comfortable space for you to relax for about 60 minutes. Your only task is to lie down, remain open, and allow whatever sensations emerge – whether emotional, visual, or physical. During this time, I assess your energy and channel Reiki through my hands, working to balance your energy and create a sense of tranquility.
Recipients often experience profound releases through laughter, tears, or yawning, and report an overall sense of well-being that can last for weeks or months after a single session.
